Obituary Index

Each entry in this index is listed as either ‘fatality’ or ‘obituary’ - occasionally both. ‘Fatality’ usually refers to a news report or article about the death of a caver, whilst ‘obituary’ is generally an article that has been written to pay tribute.

In addition, issue 198 included an article that listed every known caving fatality in the UK between 1775 and 2006. BCRC rescue statistics feature annually in Descent and these are not usually included in this index. To find an issue featuring an annual BCRC report, just search for BCRC under B in the Author Index.
